“Flipping that switch” gets harder over time, so today we look at how you can more consistently be in your "intrinsic zone" so things feel right. We talk about ways to keep wasted time from snowballing along with finding passion and motivation outside of speed or a race time. We get better and faster by truly finding joy in the process. And by simple things like improvement and alleviating weaknesses. Today, we get into how that all ties together to find contentment and reward in this sport for a long time.

Holding pace and effort are probably one of the greatest skills you can master in triathlon. Today, we look at how that correlates to your bike power, run training, and swim effort. We start with FTP (Functional Threshold Power) tests, including: how you should use them, when are the best times to do them, and how to interpret results in a way that helps you train better. It’s an understandable approach to bike power along with some great thoughts to help your swimming.

The power of the mind and doing self checks before looking at the numbers. We talk about the distractions we all face and why it’s up to us to limit them and focus more on the middle way. Distraction equals stress and the person with the least amount of stress wins.

The little decisions we make each day set the tone for our lives. Happy and Healthy are the goals and depend on which way those decisions fall. Training can always be put off, but if you think of it, do it now. Don’t be a robot in search of perfection because it’s not going to come. Embrace imperfection AS perfection. Take responsibility for yourself, as we are what we consistently do. And by all means, be selfish with what makes you healthy.

It's easy to get trapped in the "what ifs" or negativity of the world, but today is about looking in the mirror and moving forward with what's best for you. It's too early in the year to throw in the towel, buckle up and get it done.
